Adam Klánský

Adam Klánský began playing the cello when he was five years old. Since 2016 he has been a student of Prof. M. Kaňka and is currently a fifth-year student at the Prague Conservatorium, in the class of Prof. P. Nouzovský. 

After winning 2nd prize at the Prague Junior Note competition at the age of six, Adam has become a laureate of many national and international competitions. He has won the national round of the Ministry of Education's competition multiple times, as well as being declared the absolute winner of the Jan Vychytil competition (2015), the Bohuslav Martinů competition in Polička (2014) and the Conservatory competition (2017).

At the international level, Adam has assembled a formidable list of accomplishments, including victories at the Heran Competition in Ústí nad Orlicí (2009 and 2013), 1st prize in the Concours Flame competition in Paris (2013), 2nd prize in Liezen, Austria, 3rd prize in the David Popper competition in Várpalota, Hungary (2013) and 2nd prize in the Antonio Janigro competition in Poreč, Croatia (2012). He has also won the Talents for Europe competition in Dolný Kubín (Slovakia) several times.

Adam's most valuable achievements so far are 1st prize at the prestigious J. J. F. Dotzauer competition in Dresden (October 2019) and 1st prize in the Gustav Mahler international competition in Jihlava (February 2020 and February 2021).

As a soloist, he has already performed with leading Czech orchestras such as the PKF Prague Philharmonic and the Hradec Králové Philharmonic. He is an active participant in masterclasses, to-date with such world-renowned cellists as S.Isserlis, R. Latzko, and O. Canetti.
