Marie Šumníková

Marie Šumníková began playing the piano when she was four years old, and until the age of 15 she was taught by her mother, Jana Šumníková. For four years she studied at the Prague Conservatorium under M. Kasík. At present, she is a student of the Academy of Performing Parts in Prague, in the class of I. Klánský.

 

Her greatest accomplishments at competitions are: 2nd prize at the International Fryderyk Chopin Competition in Mariánské Lázně, Czech Republic (2015 and 2017), finalist at the three-round Intenational Chopin Piano Competition Budapest 2016,  “Aspiration foundation special prize” in the first annual Olga Kern International Piano Competition 2016 -New Mexio (USA), 1st prize at the International Piano Competition in Milan, Italy 2017, 2nd prize at the International Piano Competition in Bari, Italy 2017, and 1st prize at the Internatonal Piano Competition in Ischia, Italy 2017.

 

She has appeared several times as a soloist in concert with the Moravian Philharmonic Olomouc, the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Zlín, the Janaček Philharmonic Ostrava, and the Gödölö Symphony Orchestra. She has attended masterclasses with pianists such as E. Indjic, B. Abduraimov, L. Vogt, and F. Pavri.
