Shion Ota

Shion Ota (2000) piano

Shion was born in Osaka. She graduated from the Tokyo College of Music and She is currently studying at the Nagoya University of Arts (Y. Yokoyama) and Universität der Künste Berlin (B. Lehmann). She has won prizes in various competitions since 2013, such as 1st prize at the Student Music Concours of Japan. In same year, she placed 5th and received the Most Promising Artist Award at the Hamamatsu International Piano Academy. 

She has won prizes in the PTNA Piano Competition for 10 consecutive years since 2007, and at the age of 16 she won the Silver Prize and the Audience Prize. Outside of Japan, she won 2nd prize at the Malta International Piano Competition in 2018, 1st prize at the Gloria Artis International Competition in 2020, and the Noel Mewton-Wood 6th prize at the Sydney International Piano Competition in 2021. In 2022 she won 3rd prize at the Sendai International Music Competition in Japan.

She has performed in various concerts in France, the United States of America, Thailand, Vietnam, and in many parts of Japan.  She is a recipient of the Yamaha Foundation Scholarship, the Aoyama Music Foundation Scholarship, the Rohm Music Foundation Scholarship  and the Meiji Yasuda Cultural Foundation Scholarship. She also has performed together with the Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra, Kansai Philharmonic Orchestra, Osaka Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, Armenian State Symphony Orchestra and others.

 

She released online music streaming "SHION OTA - My select Vol.1" from Warner Music Japan.  She was selected as a CHANEL Pygmalion Days Artist by the Chanel Foundation and performed in six recitals at CHANEL NEXUS HALL in 2018.
